Not Gonzalez, nor Toprak nor Miller but the first rider to have a Ducati contract guaranteed in 2024, after his signature at the beginning of the year. The Spaniard will have a GP24 and will be a teammate of Alex Marquez who has just renewed with a two-year contract.
This means that Valentino himself could have carried out a rescue operation for Franco Morbidelli giving up Aldeguer to save Franco otherwise without a bike for 2025.
The decision would have been made on Friday so it has nothing to do with Aldeguer’s victory at the Sachsenring, nor with the positive performance of Morbidelli who, however, could have been informed and could have had a nice injection of confidence and optimism!
Fermín Aldeguer Mengual, born in 2005, signed with Ducati even before the start of the 2024 season, after having won the last 4 races of the 2023 season in Moto2 astride a Boscoscuro, a bike he still rides and with which he is in fourth place in the general classification with 39 points behind Garcia, Ogura and Roberts due to a rather troubled start with only one victory and two podiums (before the one in Germany) but also two retirements and a performance without points.
Some criticism of “premature signing” towards the Spaniard who however responded with two important performances in the last two races and now goes on holiday already knowing what colors he will wear in 2025.
A curiosity: Aldeguer had his first world experience in MotoE, and is therefore a fairly anomalous case.
Another curiosity: Misterhelmet was the first to announce Aldeguer’s signing on January 13th and for this he received a watch as a gift from Aldeguer himself!
